The thing worth knowing

The honest way to compute this is per mile, not per hour: divide your car’s miles per kWh into your rate. At 3.5 mi/kWh and 18.34 cents, that is 5.2 cents a mile, against about 12 cents for a 30 mpg petrol car at 3.60 a gallon.
