The thing worth knowing

This is the only appliance on this site whose entire purpose is to convert electricity into heat as a by-product of computation, and it does so at full rate for all 8,760 hours. At the US average rate a single 3 kW unit costs more per year to run than most households spend on all their other electricity combined. It also dumps 3 kW of heat into the building, which in summer the air conditioning must then remove at further cost.
