Why this is lower than the number you will see elsewhere

Almost every published answer to this question multiplies the rating on the label by the hours the appliance is switched on. For an air compressor that gives 342 kWh a year, or $63.

The motor runs only to refill the tank after pressure drops. In light use that is a few minutes an hour; running an air tool continuously drives it far higher.

The thing worth knowing

A leaking compressor is the most expensive fault in a workshop, because the motor refills a tank that is emptying into nothing, around the clock if the machine is left switched on. A leak small enough to be inaudible can double the annual figure. Switch it off at the wall between sessions and the problem disappears whether or not you ever find the leak.
